About this place
Up the stairs on the 2nd floor of its building, Cafe de Miru is a kissaten where potted greenery lines the windowsills and gentle classical music sets an unhurried rhythm. Booths and sofa seating fill the retro-toned, dark brown interior, where customers can often be seen relaxing over a book.
For a substantial meal, the set menus are especially dependable, arriving complete with salad, dessert, and a drink. The selections cover time-honored yoshoku staples, from the house Miru-style napolitan and fragrant spiced dry curry rice to Tokyo retro beef curry, enriched with sweet onions and chunky beef, and simmered beef stew served with a choice of rice or toast. The pasta lineup is just as versatile for lunch, featuring dishes such as seafood rich cream sauce made with béchamel, or a Japanese-style peperoncino tossed with 4 varieties of mushrooms.
After a meal or during an afternoon break, colorful parfaits and cake sets provide a welcome pause. Tall glasses filled for fruit parfaits or chocolate banana parfaits deliver nostalgic kissaten indulgence, while pancakes served with whipped cream and syrup pair naturally with coffee. The drink selection also extends to fresh-squeezed lemon squash, rich hot cocoa, glass beer, and wine, making it an easy place to step away from the bustle of the streets and unwind at your own pace.
